5.2.4.1    Connecting directly

This topic describes how to connect Dobot M1 and PC with network cable directly and a PC can only control single Dobot M1. The connection is shown as Figure 5.13.

Ÿ   If the SN number of Dobot M1 is DT211812xxx and later numbers, please connect them as the flowing steps. Please check the SN number on the M1Studio > Help > About M1Studio page.

xxx is random number, please replace it based on site requirements.

Step 1         Power on Dobot M1 and launch M1Studio.

Step 2         Select Tools > Force Configure IP… on the M1Studio page.

The forced configuration page is displayed.

Step 3         Click Force Configure IP, the IP address of Dobot M1 will be forced set in the same network segment of the PC, as shown in Figure 5.14.

NOTICE

Ÿ   Please make sure that the IP address of PC belongs to class C networks when configuring IP address. Otherwise, the forced configuration will be failed.

Class C IP addresses range: 192.0.0.0 - 223.255.255.255. Default subnet mask: 255.255.255.0.

Ÿ   Forced configuration function is recommended only when a PC controls a Dobot M1. As a PC controls multiple Dobot M1 simultaneously, all the IP addresses will be modified when you modify one of IP addresses by forced configuration.

After closing the forced configuration page, you can check the corresponding IP address from the serial drop-down list on the upper left pane of the M1Studio page and click Connect, as shown in Figure 5.15.

Ÿ   If the SN number of Dobot M1 is DT211811xxx and earlier numbers, please connect them as the flowing steps.

If the local IP address, subnet mask of the PC are 192.168.1.10, 255.255.255.0 respectively. You can run the command ipconfig /all on the CMD console window to view the IP information of the PC.

NOTICE

Ÿ   Please make sure that the PC address of PC belongs to class C networks when configuring IP address. Otherwise, the configuration will be failed.

Class C IP addresses range: 192.0.0.0 - 223.255.255.255. Default subnet mask: 255.255.255.0.

Ÿ   The IP address of Dobot M1and the PC must be on the same network segment without conflict. The subnet masks of them must be the same.

Ÿ   If the SN number of Dobot M1 is DT211811xxx and earlier numbers, the forced configuration is not supported. You have to configure IP address as the following steps. If the forced configuration function is activated, you must configure IP address as the following steps and then update A9 firmware to the 02005800 version or later versions. For details, please see 6.9.2 Upgrading Firmware.

 

Step 1         Select the corresponding serial port from the serial drop-down list on the upper left pane of the M1Studio page and click Connect.

If Connect turns to Disconnect, the connection is successful.

Step 2         Select IP Address Setting on the M1Studio page.

The Dobot M1 IP Address Setting page is displayed.

Step 3         Modify IP Address and Netmask on the Dobot M1 IP Address Setting page.

Step 4         Click Confirm.

If Network Status of Dobot M1 turns to Connected to LAN, the modification is successful.

Step 5         Click Disconnect on the upper left pane of the M1Studio page.

About 2 seconds later, select the modified IP address from the drop-down list on the upper left pane of the M1Studio page, and click Connect.
