Maker Lab - Shandong Jinan Second Middle School

Overview

Background

In order to actively respond to national policies, local education bureaus have invested a lot in the construction of artificial intelligence maker spaces in primary and secondary schools, and the development of the maker education curriculum to support the development of artificial intelligence. Jinan Second Middle School also began to explore the applicable methods of maker education and STEAM education and to serve as a model to build campus maker labs and to foster the cultivation of makers for the future development of high schools.

Results

Project Purpose

The purpose of maker education is to improve the students' hands-on capabilities. Therefore, there are hardware and software resources in need and specific requirements for the maker classroom. Maker education, which integrates STEM (Science, Technology, Electronics, and Mathematics), can invoke students' interest in learning by adopting the teaching form of the flipped classroom.

Project Outcome

Shandong Jinan Second Middle School built the maker laboratory to promote the basic education of artificial intelligence, focusing on "Artificial Intelligence" and combining two compulsory courses of high school information technology: "Data and Computing" and "Information System". Students in the school participated in multiple contests and achieved good results with the training and support of DOBOT staff.
